PAP test and cytology
PAP test is a clinical intervention that allows the collecting of cells from the cervix, located at the lowermost portion of the uterus.
Such an intervention allows for verification of any changes in the sampled cells. PAP test can occur in the midst of a regular clinical health evaluation or a pelvic examination. The test itself lasts only a few minutes.
Why is it useful?
- Detect and diagnose cervical precancerous conditions or cervical cancer;
- Diagnose infection or inflammation in the upper part of women’s reproductive organs;
- Follow up on abnormal PAP test results or monitor precancerous conditions;
- Detect abnormal cellular changes or recurrence of cancer after treatment;
