MENINGITIS serogroup B (Bexsero ©)

Meningitis type B is a infection is the most common strain of meningococcal disease across Canada. It should not be confused with strains of meningococcal for travelers (strains A, C, W and Y). It is responsible for 80 % of meningococcal cases in infants under one year of age, 67 % in 1 to 4 years old, and 62 % of the cases in adolescents and young adults.

Although rare, this disease can affect healthy people rapidly and without warning.
Meningococcal disease can cause mortality in 24 to 48 hours and symptoms can often resemble the flu, making this disease initially misdiagnosed in its early stages.
